The Holy Sites

The Holy Sites

Mina, Arafah and Muzdalifah: the route of the three holy sites in the order of the days of Hajj.

1

Mina (Day of Tarwiyah, 8 Dhul Hijjah)

It is recommended for the pilgrim to spend the night in Mina on the Day of Tarwiyah, then head from there to Arafah on the morning of the ninth day.

2

Arafah (9 Dhul Hijjah)

Standing at Arafah from midday until sunset, which is the greatest pillar of Hajj; the Prophet ﷺ said: "Hajj is Arafah," narrated by al-Tirmidhi.

3

Muzdalifah (the night of 10 Dhul Hijjah)

Spending the night in Muzdalifah after departing from Arafah, gathering pebbles for stoning the Jamarat, and making supplication at Al-Mash'ar al-Haram until just before dawn.

4

Mina (the Days of Tashriq, 11–13 Dhul Hijjah)

Spending the nights in Mina and stoning the three Jamarat each day. This is also when Tawaf al-Ifadah and shaving or trimming the hair take place.
